Dallas Predicted to Draft Dak Prescott's Replacement in 1st Round

Dak Prescott has led the Cowboys as QB for 8 years, but that may change shortly. The Cowboys may move on in the 2024 NFL draft after Prescott did not sign a new contract deal, raising worries about his future.

Brad Gagnon predicts the Cowboys will trade Prescott in Bleacher Report's newest draft predictions. In a loaded QB class, Gagnon thinks Dallas might choose one in the first round.

“I think Dallas is done with Dak Prescott, and it can apply the final pressure. On April 22, Gagnon noted that recent actions suggest the Cowboys believe they can compete in 2024 or are ready to quit. “In either case, they don't need to draft someone who will immediately impact.”

This may be the time for Dallas to trade Prescott next season. Late in the first round, QB potential should be available, but they might gamble and trade up.

Michael Penix Jr. or Bo Nix May Be Available Mock drafts aren't a good indicator of player selection. But they usually offer a range. The Cowboys may choose a QB, leaving 1 or 2 top-tier talents. Most NFL.com mock drafts predict Bo Nix or Michael Penix Jr. at the Cowboys' No. 24 pick. Last year, Nix and Penix played two Pac-12 games, but both had great seasons.

Sports Reference reported 4903 throwing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions for Penix, who guided Washington to the CFP National Championship. Nix passed for 4508 yards, 45 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. Both athletes could make the NFL, but they have downsides. Both 23 and 24, Penix and Nix are older than usual prospects.

Dak Prescott Discusses Cowboys Future At an April 19 Children's Cancer Fund event in Dallas, Prescott was asked about his future. He gave his opinion without going into depth. I'm fearless. Not that I fear being here. To be honest, I don't fear either situation," Prescott told Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I love this game. I love playing and improving myself and my teammates.”

Prescott may be telling the Cowboys he's willing to depart for another team, but it's uncertain. He will have full control whatever. Current Prescott contract has no-trade and no-tag clauses. Not much Dallas can do to keep him besides pay.

STAY TURNED FOR DEVELOPMENT
