Lottery ticket check: Million dollar PGC sells Powerball winner

Someone in Prince George's County who bought a lottery ticket got off to a great start in 2024!

As stated in a news statement, a $1 million Powerball ticket was bought at the Green Meadows Exxon gas station at 6762 Riggs Road in Hyattsville.

In Powerball's history, the fifth-largest prize was won on January 1. It was $842.4 million. The numbers that won were 12, 21, 42, 44, and 49, and the Powerball number was 1.

The winner from Maryland matched the first five numbers, which is a second-tier win. There were also sales of $1 million tickets in California, Connecticut, and Florida, Powerball said.

People who win the lottery in Maryland have 182 days from the drawing date to claim their prize. Big winners should sign the back of their ticket right away and set up a time to claim their prize.

The Michigan ticket that won the prize and matched all six numbers was bought there. For the quick millionaire, the full amount can be taken as a lump sum of $425.2 million, or it can be paid out over 29 years.
