The pilot of "Wizards of Waverly Place" sequel "Wizards." stars magical siblings Alex and Justin Russo.
Disney Branded Television told CBS News that Selena Gomez and David Henrie, who portrayed Alex and Justin in the 2007 sitcom, will executive produce the pilot.
Gomez will guest star in the pilot, while Henrie will play Justin regularly. Newcomers Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos will join Waverly Place.
According to the press release, Justin leaves WizTech and his magic talents behind to live a regular life with his family until a strong young wizard arrives searching for instruction.
"Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World." "That's So Raven." reboot writers Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas wrote the premiere episode.
Gomez captioned a flashback shot of herself and Henrie on "Wizards of Waverly Place" with "We're back." on her Instagram story.
Her tweet said she was "so excited" and included a snapshot of Deadline's scoop and a "Wizards" pilot screenplay with the comment "Home again."
Disney Channel and Henrie posted the pilot script cover with a wand on Instagram to tease the reveal. "The Russos are excited to join your family, but we've grown," Henrie captioned his image. "2024, the year magic comes back."
